Course FAQ
1. I took Fernanda’s course last Autumn – how is this different?
This version of the course has been expanded significantly. Beyond logline, synopsis and pitch deck, we’ll also cover:
- Two new modules: Treatment and Director’s Statement & Stylistic Approach.
- Five 45-minute sessions of live group office hours to ask your questions.
- Weekly answers to your emails.
- All in all, more of everything.
2. What if I can’t attend the new live-streamed classes?
All live classes will be recorded and available to review until July 31st.
3. Can I submit my work for feedback?
The group office hours are open to discuss anything you want. While it’s not the same as an individual and personalized session, you’ll get feedback from Fernanda and tips on how to keep improving.
4. When are the next Office Hours?
We’ll be asking the participants what dates/times work best for the majority. You’ll be able to find updates on the schedule for the OFFICE HOURS in the section called: Important Dates. We’ll also send an email as a reminder. We are aiming at 5 meetings, one a week. We are skipping the first week in July. If you can’t make any of the OFFICE HOURS, no worries, the recording will be waiting for you in the section called: Office Hours Archive. All recordings will be available until July 31st.
5. Will Fernanda be answering questions by email? How do I contact her?
Yes, Fernanda will be answering questions by email once or twice a week. Most likely Mondays and Fridays. Her email address is info / at / fernanda-rossi / dot / com. You can ask any question related to the content of the course, e.g. ask for further clarification or check if you understood something correctly. Please do not send your written materials or pitch deck for feedback. You can bring your materials to the OFFICE HOURS. Check question #3 above.
6. Why isn’t the video playing?
The video recordings are hosted on Vimeo. If the Vimeo service is down, the classes will not play. Fortunately, this rarely happens, and when it does it’s only an hour at most. In the unlikely event that Vimeo goes out more than a couple of hours, we’ll, of course, extend the course availability to make up for lost time.
7. I watched the first class. Is everything going to be this basic? I’m an experienced filmmaker.
We’ll let Fernanda answer that:
8. OMG! I found a typo, a mistake, a glitch. What shall I do?
It’s our first online course and even though we checked and double checked everything, it would be really helpful to let us know where we missed something or what we could improve. We’ll fix it!
9. A page says I need to purchase to access it, but I already paid
If you’re seeing any messages that say you need to purchase, but you’re sure you already paid, then you’re probably not logged in, or you might be logged in with the wrong account. Make sure you log in with the email you used to purchase and the password you created at time of purchase (not your password for regular d-word.com). Go to My Account to log in.
